The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a range of brushes and attachments as well as an intuitive app that lets you select the type of cleaning you want for each room.
For example, you can opt for the robot to take care of a thorough clean-up in the living and kitchen but be careful with the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and smart navigation technology are superb as the robot is capable of detecting small obstacles that other models struggle with. Its only drawback is that it can crash into walls and objects at full speed - but just a glance at the cleaning history in the app will tell you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading and what obstacles it's run into or avoided.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's most popular robot mop and vacuum. Unlike last year's model, this one features two agitators in its mopping pad, which greatly improves carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction capacity that allows it to pull up smaller hairs and other particles other robotic cleaners might miss.
As with the other two Roborock models I've tested, this one has reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to can help it avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things a step further by adding a dual camera which can recognize objects and determine whether they're an object that is a wall or a different surface. It then can automatically alter its direction and clean the objects without a pause.
It's the most expensive robot I've ever tested and it comes with the most features. Its sleek angular design is striking, and it only has three physical buttons. The power button, which also restarts the cleaning mop button, which doubles up as a child-lock and a home-button that can take the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml dustbin as well as a 200ml of water tank. The water tank automatically empties and the bin fills up automatically.
The only issue I encountered with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. While you can swap out the mopping cloth (if needed), it's a pain to take off the mount to wash it manually. I've noticed that any carpet that the robot crosses will come into contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on the mounts, which could cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart features that include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app is where you can manage and set up these advanced features. It also contains maps and advanced mopping options. The app lets you plan cleanings and monitor battery life. However, you'll need to jump through a few hoops to enable voice control on this model which is a pity considering how well it performs otherwise.
