The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its surprisingly affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Be sure to examine the brushes of your robot for tangled hair and large debris and clean them as required. Some models can also self-empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in a larger bin at the bottom. This can reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have examined. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good value particularly if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you need to, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross contamination. The flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky models from the competition. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored 100% in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work, or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and more attractive. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some extra cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house depending on how dirty those areas tend to be.
If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have number of furniture. Finally a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd expect from its price tag. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we have test. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
